Yuzvendra Chahal with Virat Kohli during his debut T20I series | TwitterIndian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal penned an emotional tribute to Virat Kohli, who recently stepped down as India’s Test and T20I captain and was replaced as the ODI captain by the BCCI. While the T20I captaincy was given up after the T20 World Cup 2021, Kohli shocked everyone by quitting as Test captain on January 15.

His decision came a day after India's 2-1 defeat against South Africa in the Test series. Ever since congratulatory messages from all over the cricketing world have flooded social media.

Amongst these, Yuzvendra Chahal wrote a heartwarming note to Virat Kohli. It is to be noted that Chahal enjoyed some of the most fruitful years of his India career under Kohli, who brought him into the team after the Champions Trophy 2017 debacle, and then Chahal along with Kuldeep Yadav ruled the roost for the next 3 years.

Chahal and Kuldeep helped India win their maiden bilateral ODI and T20I series in South Africa and Australia, while keeping them almost invincible at home.

Taking to Twitter, Yuzvendra Chahal wrote: "Toh batao kiska wicket lu bhaiya. The journey from understanding each other to having faith in each other is definitely something I will cherish forever. Many more games to conquer ahead with the same gist & high performance. Here’s to your successful 7 years skipper."

Kohli finished with 40 wins in 68 Tests, only behind Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh on the all-time list. He ends his Test captaincy career as the most successful Indian captain and kept the national team no.1 in Test rankings for five straight years.
