Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar recalled Team India’s Test series triumph in Australia in 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and ranked it among the team’s “greatest wins” of all times.
Despite all the injuries Team India won the 4-Test series 2-1 and Gavaskar called this the “golden chapter” in the country’s cricket history.
Ajinkya Rahane led Team India after Virat Kohli came back to India for the birth of his daughter and defeated Australia in a closely fought Test series. After winning at the MCG and leveling the series, Team India was successful in breaching the fortress of The Gabba in Brisbane last year.
The host outplayed the Indians in the Day-Night Test at Adelaide. However, Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari helped the Indians in securing a draw in the Sydney Test.
"India's win in Australia early last year will go down as one of the greatest wins in Indian cricket history," Gavaskar said.

"To pick themselves up after the dismissal with their lowest ever Test score of 36 and then to beat a rampant home team is a tribute to the determination shown by the players and the leadership roles played by the captain, coach Ravi Shastri, and his support group
"I was privileged to be there and see a golden chapter being written in the history of Indian cricket," added the 72-year-old former Indian opener.
To mark the 1-year anniversary of the victory, “Sony Sports Network” has produced a special docu-series titled “Down Underdogs – India’s Greatest Comeback” that will premiere on Friday, January 14th, and Gavaskar gave his comments to the channel.
Michael Clarke, former Australian captain, who led the Australian side to the 2015 World Cup win, said Team India deserved all the credits for fighting out the situation after the destructive opening loss.
"India picked an attack that worked. Different bowlers - not everyone bowls the same, different tactics, different skills, different weapons, so the credit goes to India for their execution but also Australia might have taken for granted their success in the first test," added the former right-handed batter.
