England head coach Chris Silverwood will not be available for the fourth Test of ongoing Ashes 2021-22 in Sydney as he needs to isolate for 10 days along with his family in Melbourne after a family member tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Nothing has been going in England’s way in the ongoing Ashes 2021-22. The visitors have so far displayed poor performances and have already lost the series, with two matches to go.

To worsen the wounds more, COVID-19 cases emerged in England’s camp during the third Test at MCG and it learned that there is total of 7 positive cases in the touring party’s camp.

The seven cases are three support staff and four family members with no players yet to test positive.

Although all the players have returned the negative COVID-19 test but a family member from the English contingent returned the positive coronavirus test on Wednesday (29th December), which has forced head coach Chris Silverwood to go into isolation for 10 days and not to travel with the team to Sydney for the fourth Test.

Graham Thorpe will take on Silverwood's duties for the SCG Test which is due to start on January 5. The squad will undergo another round of PCR tests on Thursday.

Both England and Australia will fly to Sydney on Friday (31st December) in a chartered plane for the fourth Test, which will take place on 5th January. The fifth and final Test match, a day-night affair, will take place on 14th January at Hobart.
