Ashes 2021-22: "Off spinner with zero variations," Kevin Pietersen asks why England didn't attack Nathan Lyon

Following England’s poor batting display on the Day 3 of the ongoing second Test of Ashes 2021-22, former cricketer Kevin Pietersen called Nathan Lyon an off-spinner with zero variation. 

England is clearly not having the greatest of time in the ongoing second Test of Ashes 2021-22 in Adelaide. After Australia posted a mammoth first innings total of 473 runs on the board, it was expected that the visitors would fight tooth and nail and will keep fighting till the very end. 

But this wasn’t the case as England batters looked clueless and yet again struggled against the Australian bowlers.

Even though skipper Joe Root and Dawid Malan stitched 138 runs partnership but it wasn’t enough as the likes of Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took seven wickets among them to bundle out England for 236 runs, handing hosts a mammoth lead of 237 runs in the first innings.

However, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen was not impressed with Lyon and called him an off-spinner with zero variations, asked why visitors didn’t attack him 

“Can SOMEONE please smack Lyon?!?!! FFS! Off spinner with zero variations and bowling on world crickets flattest road!!!” Kevin Pietersen Tweeted. 

Having taken a 237-run first-innings lead, Australia chose not to enforce the follow-on and batted for 17 overs during the fag end of Day 3. Even though they lost David Warner but they were in a comfortable position with a scorecard reading 17/1 along with a lead of 282 runs at stumps on Day 3
