Veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra said that rumours of the rift between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not true as both the players are professionals and have a positive approach towards everything.

Ever since BCCI sacked Virat Kohli as the Indian ODI skipper and made Rohit Sharma the new white-ball captain, it has given rise to many controversies. The rumours regarding the rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have also hogged the headlines.

However, Kohli on Wednesday (15th December) addressed the press conference and cleared all the speculations. He specifically clarified that there’s no rift between him and Rohit Sharma.

Kohli also revealed that there was no prior communication and he was informed just 1.5 hours before the BCCI released an official statement to sack him as ODI skipper.

Speaking to ANI, Indian spinner Amit Mishra said that a player of Virat Kohli’s caliber who has performed so much for the country deserves to know why he has been removed from the ODI captaincy. He added that a player should have the right to know where’s he lacking.

"This is not the first time it has happened. It happened before also and I feel that a player who has performed so much for the country and worked so hard, should have a right to know why he has been removed from the team or from a particular position. A player should know where he is lacking and should improve on that aspect," Amit Mishra said.

While talking about the rumours of the rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Amit Mishra called things fake and pointed out that both the players have a positive approach towards life.

He stressed that both the Indian batters have good communication and always give their 100 percent to the team. He lauded Virat Kohli for doing a great job as a captain and said that it’s time for Rohit Sharma to showcase his game and prove himself.

"These things are not true. Both the players have such a positive approach towards life. They have good communication even when they are on-field. They always give their 100 per cent for the team.

“I think Virat has done a great job as a captain and now it's Rohit's turn to showcase his game and prove himself to be a great player and a captain," he said.

Even though Virat Kohli failed to win ICC Trophy as Indian ODI skipper, he ended his captaincy tenure as the fourth most successful Indian skipper with 65 wins from 95 ODI games under his belt to go with a win percentage of 70.43, which is the highest among all Indian skippers.

If declared fit, Rohit Sharma’s stint as the full-time ODI skipper will begin with the three-match ODI series against South Africa, starting 19th January.
