Andhra Pradesh captain KS Bharat was the hero for his team in their ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 encounter against Gujarat.

The two teams faced off on December 14, 2021, at the Dadaji Konddev Stadium in Thane. Gujarat captain Het Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first and Andhra Pradesh put on 253/9 in 50 overs.

This total was powered single-handedly by Andhra captain Kona Srikar Bharat, who slammed 156 in 138 balls with 16 fours and 7 sixes to his name. This was his second consecutive score of 150 plus in the tournament, having made 161* against Himachal Pradesh a few days back.

Bharat, who recently impressed everyone with his glovework in the Kanpur Test against New Zealand as a substitute keeper, and had done well for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the second half of the IPL 2021, showed a wide range of shots during his knock and helped his team to a fighting total, where the next best score was 34 by Girinath Reddy.

Bharat became the first batter in this ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 to make two back-to-back scores of 150 plus.

Meanwhile, Andhra was able to defeat Gujarat pretty comfortably as they folded for 172 runs in 41.3 overs and won the match by 81 runs. Umang Kumar with 55 and Kathan Patel with 47 were the top scorers for them, while for Andhra, Manish Golamaru picked 4/30 and Girinath Reddy took 2/48.
