Ace journalist and commentator Harsha Bhogle picked his IPL
Team of the decade and unlike many other experts, he made MS Dhoni the captain
of his XI.
The IPL Team of the Decade was chosen by Bhogle as the
premier T20 league in the world, IPL completed its 10 years in 2017. Bhogle,
who video blogs on Cricbuzz.com said
that," Now depending on which way you
look at it, picking an IPL (Indian Premier League) team of the past 10 years
can either be great fun or it can be enormously difficult...can be
gut-wrenching and you are sitting there almost as if you think 'wow I own these
careers', at which point I decided it's just a fun exercise. So I've treated it
as a fun exercise."
IPL 10 was won by Mumbai Indians by 1 run, defeating RPS in
the finals and MI became the first team to win the IPL trophy 3 times. Rohit
Sharma also became the most successful IPL player with 4 trophies and captain
with 3 trophies to his name.
Bhogle's choice of MS Dhoni as captain over Rohit Sharma
seems to be apt, as Dhoni has reached the finals of the IPL 7 times in 10 years
and has won the title 2 times as CSK captain. He has experience of leading
India in international arena for 10 years and Dhoni is expected to lead CSK
next year, when CSK returns to the IPL fold after 2 years of suspension along
with RR.
Here is Harsha Bhogle's IPL Team of the Decade:
Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Shane Watson, MS Dhoni (C/WK), Dwayne Bravo, R Ashwin, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Lasith Malinga, Amit Mishra
