Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Friday (5th November) announced the 15-member squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka in November-December this year.

West Indies will tour Sri Lanka for the two-Test series, which will also be part of the new ICC World Test Championship Cycle (2021-23). The Test series will kick start from 21st November at the Galle International Stadium, followed by the second Test match at the same venue on 29th November.

West Indies have picked the uncapped opener Jeremy Solozano in the squad while they have left out senior batter Darren Bravo, opener Kieran Powell and pacer Alzarri Joseph from the 15-man squad.

Talking about the selection of uncapped player Jeremy Solozano, CWI lead selector Roger Harper said that the opener has displayed a sense of application patience, and composure and looked very comfortable against pace and spin in the domestic matches.

He added that the squad is well balanced and the composition is very similar to the squad that brought them success in their last away tour to Bangladesh.

"Jeremy played for the West Indies 'A' Team in 2019 (against India 'A') with success and in the Best v Best (domestic) matches he displayed a sense of application, patience, and composure while looking very comfortable against both pace and spin.

"The squad is well balanced, with good depth in all departments. The composition is very similar to the squad that brought us success in our last away tour to Bangladesh, with a few changes in personnel," Roger Harper said.

The Kraigg Brathwaite-led side will also play the four-day warm-up match in Colombo from November 14 to 17.

Here’s the West Indies squad for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka:

Kraigg Brathwaite (C), Jermaine Blackwood (VC), Nkrumah Bonner, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva (WK), Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, Veerasammy Permaul, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Jeremy Solozano, and Jomel Warrican.
