Team India skipper Virat Kohli who has been leading the Indian side in all three formats of the game has decided to step down from the T20I captaincy after the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE and Oman.
The ace batsman took to his social media to make the announcement that he is leaving the captaincy after having a good discussion with both India head coach Ravi Shastri and his deputy in white-ball cricket Rohit Sharma.
“Of course, arriving at this decision took a lot of time. After a lot of contemplation and discussions with my close people, Ravi bhai and also Rohit, who have been an essential part of the leadership group, I've decided to step down as the T20 Captain after this T20 World Cup in Dubai in October,” the right-hand batsman wrote on Instagram.

The former England skipper Michael Vaughan was quite impressed with Kohli’s decision lauded him for accepting that he needs to give himself space in order to play all three formats for the country and termed his decision ‘unselfish’.
“Well Done... that's a very unselfish decision and also one which will give you some nice space to hopefully relax a little away from all the pressures,” the Englishman commented on the 32-year-old’s Instagram post.
