The Hundred: “Great to know no one found it funny” - Alex Hales after getting hit in the box twice

Hales got some sympathy from Liam Livingstone who was hit twice during last BBL.

Alex Hales in pain after getting his plums smashed | TwitterEngland opener Alex Hales didn’t have a good day at all when it came to the recent Hundred match between the Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets. Alex Hales was hit in a place where any batsman would dread the most, not once, but twice.

The 32-year-old was visibly in immense pain and puffed after these blows, he found very little sympathy from the other players, the crowd, and the commentators.

At least Hales had a sense of humor to the comical reactions to his experience that popped up on social media. He sarcastically tweeted that he appreciates all the concern for him and ridiculed that no one found it funny.

"Appreciate all the messages of concern after last night. It’s great to know that my well-being was at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts and that no one found it funny in the slightest! Unfortunately it’s worst-case scenario today with minimal swelling and maximal pain,” Hales tweeted.

Trent Rockets were chasing 126 runs in a match that was reduced to 65 balls per side. Opening the innings for his team, Alex Hales got off to a flyer scoring 10 runs in the first five balls that he faced.

He was first hit by Reece Topley on the 13th ball he faced and went down to the ground, punching the earth in unimaginable pain. The physio was out to check on him and it took a while for Hales to get back on his feet.

Unfortunately, Hales’ fortune was not so good for him, as he was hit again on his box the very next ball. However, since he wasn’t hit that hard, Hales was back on his feet quickly.
