Confirming the news, Cricket Australia’s official handle on Sunday (August 1) tweeted: “Shane Warne has returned a positive test for #COVID19 at The Hundred”.
A club statement read: "London Spirit men's head coach Shane Warne will be absent from today's match against Southern Brave at Lord's.
"After feeling unwell this morning, Shane returned a positive lateral flow test and will isolate from the squad and support staff whilst he awaits PCR results.
"A second member of the team management is self-isolating after also returning a positive test. No players have been impacted."
David Ripley, the Northamptonshire head coach and one of the Spirit's assistants, will play the role of head coach in Warne's absence.
Warne's Spirit side are yet to register a win in the competition from four games. While they suffered three defeats and one of their matches yielded no-result.
Before Shane Warne, Trent Rockets’ chief coach Andy Flower had tested COVID-19 positive last weekend. As a result, Flower had missed his side's last three fixtures, with Paul Franks acting as head coach.
Steven Mullaney, who was deemed as Flower’s close contact, is the only player in the competition to have been forced to self-isolate as of now.
