Veteran Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will be available for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on July 23 in Harare.

The Bangladesh team is currently in Zimbabwe – where they have already won the one-off Test and now they set to play three-match ODIs starting on July 16 in Harare followed by the three T20Is.

Earlier, Mushfiqur had made himself unavailable for the T20I series against Zimbabwe, as he had asked for a break after the one-off Test and ODI series, but now he has changed his mind and decided to stay back for the final leg of the Tigers’ multi-format tour of Zimbabwe.

On Tuesday (July 13), Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed that Mushfiqur changed his mind, as coming out of the bio-bubble after the ODI series would make it tough for him to available for the five-match T20I series against Australia next month at home.

Minhajul told Cricbuzz, “He changed his mind and now is staying back and will be available for the T20Is against Zimbabwe. If he had decided to skip the T20Is against Zimbabwe and come out of the bio-bubble it would have been difficult for him to get back into the bubble again and make him available for the T20s.”

Notably, Bangladesh and Australia both teams are expected to arrive in Bangladesh on July 29 and get straight into the bio-bubble. The five-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Australia will be played between August 2 and August 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Australia is currently playing in the West Indies, while Bangladesh will play a warm-up game on Wednesday, July 14, before the three ODIs and three T20Is at the Harare Sports Club.
