David Warner and Matthew Wade had tried to disturb Shreyas Iyer when he came out to bat.

India cricketer Shreyas Iyer talked about a funny incident involving Matthew Wade and David Warner during a clash between India A and Australia back in 2017. The warm-up match was played ahead of Australia's four-match Test series against India.

Iyer walked out to bat after India A lost two wickets and he was sledged by the Aussies. Recalling the incident in a chat on The Grade Cricketer (TGC) Podcast, he called it his best experience of sledging. It was Wade from behind the stumps who started the chatter.

"There was chirping. It was the best experience of sledging that I ever had. Because that started before I even had faced a single ball. I will tell you about the incident. I went on to the pitch when we lost two wickets I guess. Before facing the first ball, Matthew Wade from behind was like ‘I have a feeling that he is going to go for a big one from the first ball'," he said.

Later, Warner joined Wade in an attempt to disturb Iyer from concentrating. But the India cricketer remained focused and he went on to score a double hundred in the match.

“He (Wade) started talking and then David Warner also came up. I hit a six off Nathan Lyon off my first ball. I didn’t say anything. Thought I should be quiet. Wade said again ‘oh I was right he was going for a big one’,” he said.

That wasn't it. “He said ‘there are a few captains of the IPL teams and he is trying to show-off,’ the second ball I hit another four and then went on to make a double hundred,” Iyer concluded.

Australia had lost the four-match Test series in 2017. But the series was very competitive and India sealed the series only after winning the last Test. The hosts started the series with a loss at Pune and then came back with a win in Bengaluru. The Ranchi Test was draw and India defeated Australia at Dharmashala to seal the series 2-1.
