Pakistan head coach Misbah-Ul-Haq had advised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint former Pakistan batsman Younis Khan as a full-time batting coach but now he doesn’t want to get involved in the recent episode where Khan abruptly resigned.
While talking to media from his hotel room in Derby, the 47-year-old refused to comment on this matter as it is between Younis Khan and the PCB.
“I won’t comment further as the matter is between PCB and Younis. We have to move forward with the resources we have. Of course, the players have benefited from Younis’s experience but now we have to live without it,” the right-hand batsman said.
Earlier, Younis Khan, on Tuesday, stepped down as Pakistan’s batting coach in a surprise decision which the cricket board said was agreed upon “reluctantly but amicably” even though no reasons were specified for it.
"I think he gets a bit carried away at times," says Michael Holding on Virat Kohli's aggression
He was appointed last year in November on a two-year contract until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Both PCB and Younis Khan have agreed not to make any further comments on the former captain’s departure.
As far as the Pakistan side is concerned, the Men in Green is scheduled to play a three-match ODI series and as many T20Is against England, with the ODI series slated to begin from July 8 and the T20I series scheduled from July 16.
After touring England, the Pakistan side will be traveling to the West Indies for a five-match T20I series followed by a two-match Test series. The T20I series will begin from July 27 whereas the Test series is scheduled from August 12.
