Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar was disappointed with Lahore Qalandars’ performance in the PSL 2021 and has expressed his desire to buy the franchise.
Lahore Qalandars was one of the top franchises picked to win PSL 2021, having won five of their first six matches before the tournament was suspended due to COVID-19.
However, the Sohail Akhtar-led side couldn’t replicate the same performance in the second half of the tournament as they lost their last four league matches to end the season in the fifth position and missed out on a playoff spot because of their inferior net run rate.

Expressing his disappointment over the Qalandars’ poor performance in the tournament, former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar he’s interested in buying the Lahore Qalandars franchise and would rename the team Lahore Express if he became the owner.
“I told Rana brothers to sell me your team I’ll rename it as Lahore express and change the management. These owners and management aren’t serious about cricket, they are wasting the Lahore brand,” Shoaib Akhtar was quoted as saying by Crickwick.
Lahore Qalandars, however, qualified for the final in PSL 2020 but failed to win the title.
