Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has reacted to his suspension as Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President and from its membership by the HCA apex council on the charges of the alleged violation of the state body’s constitution.
Azharuddin has been accused of allegations of conflict of interest on Thursday (June 17) and was suspended from his position and was asked to explain the charges within a week in a showcase notice.
It is being said that the HCA Apex Council had been at loggerheads with Azharuddin and at the recent BCCI Special General Meeting (SGM), HCA wanted Shivlal Yadav as their representative, but the BCCI intervened and allowed the former India captain to attend the meeting.

Well, the validity of Azharuddin’s suspension is being questioned as only the general body of a state unit has powers to suspend its president, not the apex council – from which five members are already inquired by HCA's Ombudsman.
Reacting to the matter, Azharuddin has termed the move as a vendetta and belligerent by the anti-lobby posturing with scant regard for the rule of law and vowed to fight back.
Azharuddin said in a statement: “Today, the institution of cricket administration itself is under threat by these false narratives being published in the media. Please verify the truthfulness of the information, hear the other side, then take a rational view in line with the HCA constitution before you publish something because the society believes what you write.”
He trained his guns at one of the apex council members K John Manoj (a reputed coach) and his faction in the council with the other four are R. Vijayanand, Naresh Sharma, Surender Agarwal, Anuradha.
Azhar concluded, “All their efforts have gone in vain. Their intention to scuttle the appointment of the Ombudsman might be because of the lurking fear that their multiple clubs acquired through manipulation and fraud will be exposed and they may lose their valuable property-the cash cow that sucks the blood of cricketers from a 14-year old boy to a 23-year old youngster aspiring to realize their dreams.”
