The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) weaves their magic once again as the Cricket West Indies (CWI) has reportedly agreed to advance dates of the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021) for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) in the UAE.

The BCCI and CWI were in talks over advancing the dates of the CPL 2021 recently and on Thursday (June 17), both the boards have come to an agreement thanks to which both the IPL 2021 and the CPL can take place without one overlapping into the other later this year. The BCCI had reportedly requested the CWI to pre-pone CPL 2021 by week to 10 days.

It is reported that the CWI has agreed to the BCCI’s request for a change in the schedule to ensure the availability of the West Indies players in the second phase of the IPL 2021, and also so that the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 can be played in the limited window available after September 14 in the UAE.

The decision to change in dates has been taken after both the BCCI and CPL authorities agreed for the same after Jay Shah called the CPL COO Pete Russell. Shah also called his counterparts in the CWI to convince the Caribbean cricket authorities to tweak the CPL 2021 schedule this season.

Ricky Skerritt, the President of CWI, told Cricbuzz:CWI is doing our best to help facilitate a smooth transition from CPL to IPL, without a conflicting overlap.”

The CPL 2021 will now reportedly take place from August 25 to September 15 in order to enable the IPL to restart the unfinished T20 league around September 18-19. Originally, the 33-game CPL 2021 was to take place from August 28 to September 19.
