South Africa cricketer Faf du Plessis is going to play the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6th edition, which is set to resume from June 9 in the UAE. Du Plessis, who was recently part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL), compared the two T20 leagues.

The 36-year-old, who plays for Quetta Gladiators, feels PSL has better quality pacers and he was surprised to find out the number of fast bowlers who can cross the 140-plus bowling speed. On the other hand, he feels IPL has produced better spinners and they have a huge variety of spin bowlers.

"The standard is very good in PSL. I must say that the things that's impressed me the most about the tournament is the fast bowlers. Coming from a country like South Africa myself where you grow up facing a lot of pace, I was surprised to see the number of guys that can bowl 140-plus in the competition.

"I would say that in India, there's a huge variety of spin bowlers that you face, I feel that the real gem of the PSL is the amount of pace that it has to offer," he told Cricket Pakistan.

Du Plessis was going through a terrific form for CSK in the IPL 2021 before the tournament got postponed due to COVID-19. Bio-Bubble of multiple franchises were breached and there were a few COVID-19 positive cases as well.

"The tournament was well run once again. Everything went smoothly, we felt safe in the bubble, no issues. Then obviously, I think, the traveling part of the IPL is where it opened the gap for Covid to come into the tournament," du Plessis added.

"Very disappointing that another tournament had to be postponed because of it. It was sad in a way. My performances were going well but also the team… Chennai Super Kings was playing some really good cricket. Very disappointing from that part."

The CSK opener scored 320 runs in 7 matches with 4 half-centuries. He batted with a strike rate of 145.45 and his highest score in the tournament was 95*.
