Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan has said that Mohammad Amir could still play for Pakistan and the board will be making efforts for a rapprochement between him and the coaches.

Mohammed Amir announced his retirement from international cricket in December last year, citing not being able to handle the mental torture he has been subjected to him by the current team management and some former Pakistan players.

Ever since Mohammad Amir announced his retirement from international cricket, he has been in talks. As many fans and pundits criticised him for not showing maturity and calling time on his career while others feel that Amir should be called back to play for Pakistan. 

However, since the last few weeks talk about Amir’s comeback in the national side has been hogging over the headlines. Even Pakistan skipper Babar Azam recently said he is ready to speak to left-arm-pacer about his issues when he gets an opportunity.

Speaking to Cricket Baaz YouTube’s channel about the same, Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan pointed out that Mohammad Amir’s decision was not right as a senior player. He added that the left-arm-pacer could still play for the national team and efforts are on for a rapprochement between him and the coaches.

"I also made it clear to him that the path he adopted was not right as a senior player. I think Amir is a valuable player for us even now and we will now make efforts to bring about a rapprochement between him and the coaches,” PCB CEO Wasim Khan said on the Cricket Baaz channel on YouTube.

Mohammad Amir recently signed a contract to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021) for Barbados and will next be seen in action in the remainder of the PSL 2021 in Abu Dhabi from June 9 for the Karachi Kings team.
