While MS Dhoni has been successful captain overall, Rohit Sharma has shown his captaincy skills in IPL.

Former India skipper MS Dhoni is counted among the most successful captains in cricket history. He has led India to three major ICC tournament wins which include ICC T20 World Cup 2007, ICC World Cup 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

Former Pakistan batsman Salman Butt commented on his leadership and said Dhoni is a good example of a tactical captain and he also mentioned Rohit Sharma's name for being good in the Indian Premier League.

"Faf du Plessis is a great batsman, but his tactical decisions in the World Cup in England were not that good. Poor execution from bowlers can make the captain look like someone who doesn't have great plans. MS Dhoni is a fine example of a great tactician. Rohit Sharma's tactics in the IPL were spot on," Butt said on his YouTube channel.

Butt doesn't see England's Eoin Morgan as a fine tactical captain and feels his planning doesn't help the team's bowling attack. "Currently, I don't think Eoin Morgan is a great tactical captain. He is almost prepared to chase down a total in excess of 300-350 and thus, he doesn't seem to have great plans to restrict the opposition," he added.

Dhoni quit India's Test captaincy in 2014 and limited-overs leadership in 2017. He had handed it over to Virat Kohli, who has led India to ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final and ICC World Cup 2019 semi-final.
