Barbados Tridents rope in Mohammad Amir for maiden CPL stint

Shoaib Malik returns to Guyana Amazon Warriors; Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane will be joining the Trinbago Knight Riders.

Mohammad Amir plays for Karachi Kings in PSL | GettyWith the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) scheduled to take place in St Kitts and Nevis in August and September, all the involved franchises are roping in players to bolster their arsenal for the T20 tournament.

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, Shoaib Malik, and Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane are some of them.

The Barbados Tridents have managed to sign left-arm quick Amir who has 220 wickets in the shortest format with 59 of them coming in T20Is. The 29-year-old also has a huge amount of experience and a track record of success across the globe.

Looking forward for the new challenge,” Amir had tweeted confirming that he will be playing for the Barbados Tridents in CPL.

Shoaib Malik, on the other hand, will be returning to the Guyana Amazon Warriors where he was the main reason behind the franchise winning 11 consecutive matches. Just like Amir, Malik is also quite experienced in this format with 417 T20 matches to his name along with 12 trophies.

Sandeep Lamichhane, the leg-spinner from Nepal will be joining the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) for the 2021 season. Lamichhane became a regular in T20 tournaments across the globe and will be a good spinning option for the Knight Riders.

The CPL 2021 is slated to begin on August 28 and will run till September 19 with all 33 matches being played at Warner Park. This year the tournament will take place in St Kitts & Nevis due to a successful CPL in Trinidad and Tobago in 2020.
