India youngster Shubman Gill doesn't miss any opportunity to learn from his seniors and he spoke about the differences in batting with skipper Virat Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma.
Gill is part of India’s squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand next month.
Gill told India TV that Kohli tells him to have a fearless mindset and to be in a good frame of mind, while Rohit talks about the strategy of the bowlers and how to tackle them.
“Virat bhai tells me to play fearlessly whenever we speak about the game. He speaks about mindset a lot, that you have to be in a good frame of mind when you go out to bat and shares his experiences.”
“And when I am batting with Rohit bhai, we usually discuss where the bowlers will bowl, what the situation is like, depending on that, when to take risk or not,” he added.
Gill has opened with Rohit on the Australia tour and they have also batted in the home series against England. The 21-year-old will have an important task to tackle the new ball in the United Kingdom when India faces New Zealand and later the English side for a five-match Test series.
“In England whenever there is cloud around, the ball swings more and when the sun is out, it gets easier to bat. It is important to assess those conditions as an opener,” he said.
