Team India and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha who had contracted COVID-19 during this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) has now completely recovered and is available for selection for the upcoming England tour.
Saha who is currently at his home in Kolkata after completing the mandatory quarantine in a Delhi hotel was also picked in the Indian squad leaving for UK while his final availability was subject to fitness.
“Wriddhiman is back home yesterday after two and half weeks of hotel quarantine in Delhi,” a source close to the Indian player told PTI.
IPL 2021: Michael Hussey negative for COVID-19; Wriddhiman Saha tests positive again
Saha will have to return another negative RT-PCR test before joining the Indian team’s bio-bubble in Mumbai before departing for UK. All the UK-bound players will have to undergo a hard quarantine before boarding the flight.
Team India will be taking on New Zealand in the final of inaugural edition of World Test Championship (WTC) at Southampton from June 18 followed by a five-match Test series against England scheduled to begin from August 4.
Saha was a part of SRH bio-bubble in the 2021 edition of the IPL before it was indefinitely suspended as some other players and members of support staff had tested positive for COVID-19.
