“We talk well when we meet," Vijay Shankar says no personal issues with Ambati Rayudu over '3D' tweet

Ambati Rayudu had posted a cheeky tweet after being overlooked for 2019 ICC World Cup.

Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar said he doesn't have any issues against ex-India cricketer Ambati Rayudu for his '3D' tweet and that it does not come up in conversations when they meet.

Shankar also talked about the comparison between him and Rayudu made by social media users and called it illogical. He said both of them have different roles for the team and the comparison doesn't make any sense.

“We talk well when we meet. There’s no personal issue between us. It just so happened that his (Rayudu’s) tweet became viral. I definitely don’t have any grudge against him. Even when I met him recently in Delhi, we had a super conversation,” Shankar told News18.

Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad had picked Shankar in the Team India squad for the 2019 World Cup for being a 3-dimensional player. Rayudu was ignored from the squad and he later posted a dig at the team selection in his tweet; tweeting that he had ordered some ‘3D glasses’ to watch the World Cup from home.

Shankar said he never had anything to do with all of the three-dimensional tag. “I have no connection to that. They gave me a tag randomly and made it viral. But after that tweet, I played three games for India in the World Cup and did decently. I didn’t do anything bad,” he said.

“A lot of people compare me to Rayudu, but the batting orders and conditions we play in are different. It’s okay to even compare, but at least see which slots we’re batting in. A lot of people don’t know that. They don’t see that, and they just want to enjoy in social media at my expense,” he added.
