I deserve most of it, says Tim Paine after Australian journalist shares heated tweets from Indian fans

Tim Paine shifted the blame of Gabba Test loss to Indian team citing that they distracted Australian team.

Tim Paine had told Ashwin that Australia would love to see them in Gabba | GettyAustralia Test captain Tim Paine has been on the target of the Indian cricket fan fraternity on Twitter ever since he accused of Indian team of employing distracting tactics during their 4-Test series of Australia in 2020-21.

His words came while addressing the media at a Chappell Foundation function in Sydney.

India defeated Australia 2-1 in the Test series to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy including beating the Aussies at the Gabba, Brisbane, a venue where they had not lost a Test since 1988-89. India did all this despite not having their first-choice players including Virat Kohli, who had returned home on parental leave, and the likes of Jadeja, Ashwin, Vihari, and Bumrah out injured.

Steve Waugh urges Tim Paine needs to have a plan B or C as captain and be instinctive

"Part of the challenge of playing against India is they're very good at niggling you and trying to distract you with stuff that doesn't really matter and there were times in that series where we fell for that.

The classic example was when they said they weren't going to the Gabba so we didn't know where we were going. They're very good at creating these sideshows and we took our eye off the ball," he added as quoted by news.com.au.

Paine basically diverted the blame of loss on the Indian team for distracting them before the Gabba Test and this didn’t go down well with the Indian fans as they brought down some major heat on the Australia Test captain on the social media site.

An Australian journalist shared a couple of choicest tweets on Twitter and Tim Paine replied saying most of it, I deserve.

Paine will be seen captaining Australia in the upcoming Ashes 2021-22 series to be played in Australia.
