Indian Women cricketers have been granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to participate in England’s inaugural The Hundred competition in July 2021.
The BCCI has sent England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) the NOCs of four India women cricketers including India’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and all-rounder Deepti Sharma, allowing them to participate in the inaugural eight-team competition – The Hundred starting on July 21.
However, the fourth name is yet to be disclosed, was allowed by the BCCI to play in the 100-ball tournament – which was postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity: “Harmanpreet, Mandhana, Deepti, and another player have got the clearance as the BCCI has granted the NOC for them.”
It is being said that The Hundred-bound four Indian players will extend their stay in England following the completion of India's multi-format tour of the UK in June-July 2021.
The Indian women’s cricket team’s tour of England will begin with a one-off Test at Bristol on June 16 followed by a three-match ODI series and three T20Is till July 15.
The Indian squad will report on May 27, although, it is unclear about their travel to the UK as flights from India have been suspended by the British government due to the spike in COVID-19 cases.
The source said: “The players will be asked to report on May 27 for the tour.”
