“Disgrace," Vaughan slams BCCI for not promoting Ravindra Jadeja in annual contract list

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan while slamming Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not promoting Ravindra Jadeja in annual contract list said that the latter should be in the elite A+ grade behind Virat Kohli. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (15th April) announced the Annual Players Contracts for Team India for the year 2020-21. 

The contract saw the likes of skipper Virat Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma and premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in elite A+ grade and will earn INR 7 crores annually.

While swashbuckling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja along with 9 other players in A grade and will earn INR 5 crores annually. 

However, earlier as the reports Jadeja was considered for the top pay-scale by the BCCI but the board inexplicably left him out of it keeping it to just three players like the last year.

Addressing the same former English cricketer, Michael Vaughan slammed BCCI for not promoting Ravindra Jadeja to grade A+. 

Taking to his official Twitter account Vaughan termed the decision as a ‘disgrace’ and referred Jadeja as the second best behind captain Virat Kohli.

“Disgrace … he should be on a the biggest behind Virat …” Michael Vaughan Tweeted. 

Ravindra Jadeja is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK)  in IPL 2021. In the latest encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS), the swashbuckling all-rounder once again impressed everyone with his fielding abilities as he ran out KL Rahul by a brilliant direct hit and then later took a diving catch to dismiss Chris Gayle.

Referring to Jadeja’s acrobatic fielding, Micheal Vaughan heaped rich praise for the flamboyant all-rounder and called him ‘India’s greatest fielder ever’
