Mohammed Siraj had a big responsibility and opportunity when he was given his Test debut against Australia at Melbourne in the recent series. He had suffered a huge personal loss, as his father passed away back home.

Despite BCCI offering him to fly back for the last rites of his father, Siraj took the difficult decision to stay back for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and when Mohammad Shami suffered a fracture on his bowling hand during the Adelaide Test loss, Siraj was penciled in.

He responded with five wickets in his debut Test as India won by 8 wickets. However, his best performance came in the last and series-deciding Test at Gabba in Brisbane, where he picked his maiden five-wicket haul and helped India win the Test and the series 2-1.

Siraj finished as the highest wicket-taker for India with 13 scalps in 3 Tests in the series.

India’s business tycoon Anand Mahindra had promised to gift the new Mahindra SUV Thar to all six youngsters who shined brightly in Australia series and after T Natarajan and Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj received his Mahindra Thar.

Siraj posted a photo of his brother receiving the newly acquired wheels on Twitter and thanked Anand Mahindra for his kind gesture.

“Words fail me at this moment. There is nothing I can say or do that will adequately express how I feel about your beautiful gift @Mahindra_Thar. For now, I’ll just say a big fat thank you @anandmahindra sir #AnandMahindra  #thankyou,” Siraj tweeted.
