April 2, 2011, is a date, every Indian cherishes. The Indian cricket team clinched the World Cup title for the second time 10 years ago.

MS Dhoni-led Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets at the iconic Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai. On account of Mahela Jayawardene’s unbeaten 103 from 88 balls, Sri Lanka posted a total of 274-6 in their quota of 50 overs.

In reply to Sri Lanka’s total of 274, Indian openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag fell early to Lasith Malinga and give Indians a mini heart-attack.

However, after that Gautam Gambhir (97) joined hands with Virat Kohli (35) and stitched a gritty 83-run stand to lay the foundation for India's chase. After Kohli’s dismissal skipper MS Dhoni (91*) joined Gautam Gambhir and the duo together notched a 109-run stand between them.
