India's first World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, has received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, March 3.
Senior citizens and people above the age of 45 with comorbidities were the primary beneficiaries of phase two of the COVID-19 vaccination in India that began on Monday, March 1. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his first done on the morning of the day phase 2 began.
The 62-year-old former cricketer did not waste much time and went to take his first dose of the vaccine just a couple of days later in the national capital.

Kapil visited the Fortis Hospital Heart Institute and took the jab under the supervision of his cardiologist Dr. Atul Mathur, who is also the Director of Cardiology at the hospital. The former cricketer is on medication for blood thinning after undergoing angioplasty in October 2020.
Team India head coach Ravi Shastri had also taken his first dose on Tuesday, March 2. Madan Lal, a member of Kapil Dev's World Cup-winning squad, also took the jab on the same day.
The great Kapil Dev has played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs for Team India scoring over 9000 runs and picking close to 700 international wickets. He is the most successful pacer for India and arguably the best all-rounder the nation has produced.
