Salil Ankola, who turned 53 on Monday, March 1, shared the news of him being tested positive for COVID-19 a day before.

The cricketer-turned-actor and now the chairman of the Mumbai selection committee posted on his social media accounts about his 'unforgettable' birthday. There had been a spike in the number of cases of COVID-19 in Maharashtra.

The former speedster was one of those who caught the virus and was hospitalized for the same. He posted a picture on his Instagram account of himself on a hospital bed. Although he did not look like being at the best of his health, his caption showed enough courage to get back to full fitness.

He soon received a lot of comments on the post wishing him a quick recovery and some prayers.

The 53-year-old pacer played 1 Test and 20 ODIs for India from 1989 to 1997. Ankola's term as the chairman of the selection committee, which started in December 2020, is supposed to end on March 31. Whether he gets an extension to the post is yet to be known.

The caption read, "Bringing in my birthday tomorrow with COVID 19 catching up with me. Unforgettable birthday. It's scary to go through this but will be needing all your blessings to come through with this Will be back soon full throttle"
