England opener Jonny Bairstow re-entered the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings top ten after his brilliant century against Australia in the 3rd and deciding ODI at Manchester on September 16, 2020.
He made 126-ball 112 with 12 fours and 2 sixes and along with the fifties from Sam Billings and Chris Woakes, took England to a good total of 302/7 after being 96/4 at one stage. Unfortunately, this total proved to be inadequate, as centuries from Glenn Maxwell and Alex Carey, led Australia to a 3-wicket win, which also ensured that they pocketed the series 2-1.

Bairstow, who hit his 10th ODI ton in the match, now has 754 points to his name and is at the 10th position in the ODI batting rankings.
India’s Virat Kohli continues to be no.1 with 871 points to his name, while his teammate Rohit Sharma is no.2 with 855 points to his name.
On the other hand, century makers from Australia, Maxwell, and Carey also gained a few places in the latest rankings. Maxwell has gained five places to take joint 26th position with Paul Stirling, while Carey comes in next after his total of 152 runs elevated him 11 places to a career-best 28th position.
In the bowling department, Chris Woakes is a major gainer in the rankings for bowlers, advancing three places to a career-best fourth position after finishing with six wickets in the series. New Zealand’s Trent Boult and India’s Jasprit Bumrah are currently occupying the top two slots.
Woakes is also second in the list of all-rounders after also notching 89 runs in the series and has reached within 20 points of Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.
Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has returned to the top 10 for the first time in nearly two years, his player of the match performance of 3/34 in the first match the highlight of a four-wicket tally. He has moved up from 15th to the eighth position.
Five-time World champions Australia collected 20 points from their first series of the Super League, introduced to add context to bilateral ODI series. The top seven teams from the Super League and hosts India book direct spots for the 2023 World Cup.
England leads the table but is the only team to have played two series, while India is second on the points table.
