Cricket legend Zaheer Abbas wants the Pakistan team to learn from their Indian counterparts on how to deal with pressure situations. He also pointed out how someone from the Indian cricket team always puts his hand up in times of need and delivers well; something his country’s batsmen need to learn from Indians.
Abbas, who is also known as ‘the Asian Bradman’, further reiterated that Pakistan batsmen should take a cue from Indian batsmen when it comes to handling the tricky situations in cricket.
Whenever Team India is in trouble someone from the batting unit always puts his hand up and brings them out of precarious situations and this is what legendary batsman wants the Pakistan batsmen to watch and learn.
Former ICC chief, who was recently inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame, claimed that India had learned that art from Pakistan and now its Men in Green’s citing Sunil Gavaskar’s words that “you should always learn from the opposition too”.
Abbas said on a Youtube program Cricket Baaz: “You look at how Indian batsmen perform nowadays. Whenever the team is in trouble, somebody comes and scores. This is what I want Pakistan to learn.”
He further added, “They (India) have learned this from us. What we taught everyone has been picked up very well but now it’s time we have to learn something from them. Gavaskar used to say that ‘you should always learn from the opposition too’.”
Former Pakistan captain also urged batsmen to learn from Indian’s batting star Rohit Sharma. He added, “If you say that Rohit Sharma is good. Then you should learn from him. Watch him, see how plays, observe his technique. I used to watch and learn from Hanif Mohammad, Rohan Kanhai.”
The legendary batter further noted, “I didn’t go and train with them, I just learned after observing their batting. There were no coaches during our time. There was only a manager, who used to travel with us. We’ve broken many records like this only.”
He also called for a players’ association in Pakistan for better communication and relation between the cricketers and the Pakistan cricket board.
Abbas signed off, “There should always be a players’ association, which is strong. People generally listen to it. Other countries have it, the players’ association decides on a lot of things. The security of the players rest with the association, they help in coordination between the players and the board,”
