Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has once again come up with a statement revolving around him. After bragging about his importance in the country countless times, Akhtar has now said the people feel Pakistan cricket needs a selector who thinks like him.

Akhtar never gets tired of self-praising and highlighting his contribution to Pakistan cricket. The time is similar as he once considered himself as the ideal man to run the country, replacing Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Currently, he is targetting the Pakistan cricket chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq. Reports say Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not happy with Misbah's work and wants him to step down as chief selector after the outcome of the England tour.

There are rumors of Akhtar being in contention for the chief selector's post, but he cleared that PCB has not approached him for now.

“Nobody has approached me for the role of the chief selector. Be it me or any other person, the important thing as a chief selector is the change in mindset — which we desperately need. That person and the head coach need to be on the same page for the betterment of the team," Akhtar told Cricket Pakistan.

“But I do know that the general public wants someone who thinks like me in charge of selecting players. A person who is straightforward and demands performances from the cricketers,” he added.

Pakistan lost the Test series against England by 1-0 and leveled the T20I series by 1-1.
