Rohit Sharma gets the Khel Ratna award; Arjuna award for Deepti Sharma and Ishant Sharma

Rohit becomes the 4th cricketer to be conferred with Khel Ratna award.

Rohit Sharma is the fourth cricketer after Tendulkar, Dhoni and Kohli to get Khel RatnaIndia’s white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been named as one of the five recipients of the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award by the sports ministry on Friday. This makes Rohit the fourth cricketer to get this honor after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli.

Amongst the 27 Arjuna awardees were cricketers Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma.

The ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2019, Rohit became the first player in the history of the game to score five ODI centuries in one edition of the World Cup. He is the only batsman with more than one double century in ODIs (3) and has a record four centuries in T20I cricket.

Rohit was also the first player to have twin centuries in his maiden appearance as a Test opener.

On the other hand, Deepti Sharma is a vital all-rounder of Indian women’s team and holds the record for the highest score by an Indian in WODIs- 188. She has appeared in 54 WODIs and 48 WT20Is for the Indian team making a total of 1840 runs and picking 117 wickets.

Ishant Sharma made his Test debut in 2007 and has played 97 Tests and 80 ODIs for India along with 14 T20I matches since then. He has 297 Test, 115 ODI, and 8 T20I wickets to his name.
