Afghanistan’s star all-rounder and former captain Mohammad Nabi has been inducted as a member of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Thursday (August 20).
The 35-year-old, who is still an active international cricketer and currently plying his trade for the St Lucia Zouks in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020, is among the four new members who have replaced the outgoing members of ACB's nine-member panel.

The other three members are the Minister for Women's Affairs, Hasina Safi, Member of Parliament from Kandahar Rohullah Khanzada, and senior advisor to the first vice- president of Afghanistan Haroon Mir.
However, the ACB did not mention any reason for the appointment of Nabi but stated all the appointments were made following the recommendations by ACB chairman Mr. Farhan Yusefzai and subsequently approved by Patron in-chief, H.E Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
The ACB said in a statement: “Following recommendations by ACB chairman Farhan Yusefzai, and subsequently approved by Patron in-chief, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, four new board members were introduced today to the Afghanistan Cricket Board replacing four former members.”

The statement further reads: “The members who were replaced include Minister for Urban Development and Land Mohammad Jawad Paikar; former Deputy Minister of Industries and Commerce Kamela Siddiqui, former Minister for Transport Hamid Tahmasi and former Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad Shukrullah Atif Mashal.”
Noteworthy, Nabi is currently playing only white-ball cricket for Afghanistan having retired from Test cricket in September last year after playing three Tests. He has so far played 124 ODIs and 78 T20Is.
