Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed may not have had much time in the international arena but he did get a chance to play under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

The 22-year-old left-arm fast bowler, who made his India debut against Hong Kong under Rohit in the 2018 Asia Cup, has played 11 ODIs and 14 T20Is for Men in Blue.

The Rajasthan-born Khaleel has recently compared the leadership styles of both Kohli and Rohit, saying both are different types of captains, but he would more like to play under aggressive Indian captain since he is also an aggressive player.

Ahmed told Times of India: “Both Virat Bhai and Rohit Bhai are different types of captains. Virat Bhai is very aggressive. If a batsman hits you for a boundary or six, he will come, show confidence in you, and tell you to bowl a bouncer. He will inject energy in you with his aggression.”

He added, “On the other hand, Rohit Bhai remains calm. He will come and give you confidence. He will give you the freedom and say you are playing an international match, you know better what to bowl, now go and bowl and dismiss him. I am also aggressive so I love to play under Virat Bhai."

The pacer also recalled his skipper’s encouraging words when he endured a forgettable outing against Australia last year, leaking 55 runs in eight overs in his very first ODI appearance.

He recalled, “Virat Bhai came to me after that match and said 'Khallu, bowl the way you do at nets. Don’t take the pressure. You will go a long way'. He has never scolded me or any player.”

Khaleel signed off by saying, “I didn’t perform well and instead of scolding, he boosted my confidence. He is a champion player and that’s how he treats every player in the team.”
