Shahid Afridi had a long international career that lasted from 1996-2018 and played alongside and against generations of players. He bowled against the best of the batsmen and batted against top-line bowlers as well.
Therefore when he had a Twitter Q&A, he was obviously asked about the best batsmen from the neighboring country India. He named current India captain Virat Kohli and hottest opener Rohit Sharma, as his favorites.
Virat Kohli has made almost 23,000 runs in international cricket with a total of 70 centuries to his name and is considered to be an all-time modern great. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has been in tremendous form since turning opener in 2013 and is the only batsman to score three double-centuries in ODIs.
“Humanity above all,” the reason for Shahid Afridi’s bold views on India and Kashmir
He recently scored five centuries in a single World Cup edition in 2019 and his 264* is the highest ODI score by a batsman ever.
Afridi was also asked about his all-time favorite batsman and the leggie named West Indian great Sir Viv Richards. Richards was a dominating batsman of his time and a two-time World Cup winner as well.
When asked about which batsmen he found difficult to bowl to, Shahid Afridi, who has 395 ODI and 98 T20I wickets to his name, along with 48 Test victims, picked AB de Villiers and Brian Lara.
He also named Pat Cummins as the best bowler in the world currently.
