Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma | PTIIndia skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma retained their top two positions in the ICC ODI batting rankings while Jasprit Bumrah continues to occupy the second slot among bowlers in the latest list issued on Tuesday (July 28).

In the bowlers chart, Bumrah (719) is behind New Zealand pacer Trent Boult (722) while Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman (701) holds the third spot.

Ravindra Jadeja is the lone Indian to feature in the list of top 10 all-rounders at the 8th position. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi is leading the pack in this category, closely followed by England’s Ben Stokes.

As England set to begin the ICC ODI Super League with the three-match home series against Ireland on July 30, their players will be in focus from the rankings perspective.

Opener Jason Roy and wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow, who are currently ranked 11th and 14th, respectively, in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen, could work their way back into the top 10 with impressive performances versus Ireland. Both Roy and Bairstow have enjoyed personal best rankings of ninth position in the past.

With none of the England players featuring in their Test series against the West Indies named for the ODIs, the hosts will be missing their leading pacers and will be led by spin twins Adil Rashid (29th) and vice-captain Moeen Ali (44th).

For Ireland, Paul Stirling remains the top-ranked batsman in 27th position while skipper Andy Balbirnie holds the 46th position in the same category. Off-spinner Andy McBrine (31st) and pacer Boyd Rankin (joint-40th) are their leading bowlers as per the rankings.
