The former India captain MS Dhoni's career is under speculation for the last one year. He didn't take field ever since India got knocked out of the World Cup 2019. Now, as T20 World Cup being postponed to next year, there is a question on his future again. Earlier, it was said he will return to play the ICC showpiece tournament after IPL.

Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has shared his opinion on Dhoni in a chat with Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz. He doesn't feel it's right for anyone to comment on Dhoni's future and the World Cup-winning India captain knows when to make a move.

“It changes from player to player. Sometimes, retirement does not require an official statement or a press release. Some cricketers just step aside and leave the arguing, speculation and everything else to others.”, he said.

Sangakkara knows Dhoni is someone who knows his game and what's best for him very well. “I believe MS Dhoni is a person who'd like others to argue upon what he should be doing. He very well knows what's best for him,” he added.

The 42-year-old Sri Lanka great knows Dhoni won't think much about his selection to Indian cricket and he will focus more on leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in upcoming IPL.

“For MS, he will leave the decision of him being selected or not to the selectors. He respects the system that he will leave it up to others. He may decide to make a formal statement about his future but I think he is very secure about who he is, his cricket, his family,” Sangakkara stated.

“Don't think he will care much whether he gets picked for India or not. He will be happy playing just for Chennai Super Kings and you will suddenly find him not turning up for training for Chennai. That is when you will realize that Dhoni has decided to retire completely. Everyone's different,” he further explained.

Sangakkara wants everyone to trust Dhoni with his decision. “I think MS is an individual who is secure and confident in who he is and how he makes his decisions. He knows what's best for him, his team and his country,” the Sri Lankan said.
