Ace Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes that comparing Babar Azam with Virat Kohli isn’t ideal for Pakistan’s new limited-overs captain, saying the latter could be under immense pressure if he continues to be compared to India captain and “that’s unfair”.
Babar has emerged as one of the batting powerhouses in modern-day cricket having single-handedly has shouldered the responsibility of Pakistan’s batting in the last couple of years across the formats.
The young right-handed batsman has been impressing one and all with his growth and consistency and even compared with Kohli especially due to his consistency especially in white-ball format.
Praising Babar, who is currently in England for a bilateral series, Ashwin said he really enjoys watching Babar bat while saying Pakistan star’s time will come when he will also dominate the game like Kohli, but presently, it is “unfair” to keep comparing the two stars of the cricket.

ARY Sports quoted Ashwin as saying to statistican Mazher Arshad: “I really enjoy Babar Azam’s batting. I watched the century he scored in Australia. Comparisons with Virat Kohli will put pressure on him, which is unfair. Kohli is one of the finest cricketers the world has produced. I am sure Babar’s time will come too.”
Noteworthy, Babar has represented Pakistan in 26 Tests, 74 ODIs, and 38 T20Is so far and currently he is number one batsman in T20Is, third in ODIs, and number sixth in the Test cricket.
