Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has heaped praise on one of the greatest modern-day white-ball openers Rohit Sharma, saying Indian opener’s batting style is filled with pure class and elegance.

The right-hander is widely regarded as one of the best timers of the ball, while his meteoric rise in white-ball cricket over the years has seen him making staggering records in the format and he has now become an indispensable part of the Indian cricket team.

Rohit has the ability to decimate any bowling force across the world with his brilliance and Hazlewood believes that Rohit’s greatest strength is the way he plays short balls with such ease while never looking to hit the delivery too hard.

Hailing his ‘elegance’ that India’s white-ball vice-captain flaunts while hitting a flurry of boundaries in his knocks, Hazlewood said Rohit has a number of strong points to his game while saying his phenomenal records speak for the class which he possesses.

Speaking on Star Sports' Cricket Connected show, Hazlewood said about Rohit's greatest strength: “He's got many. I think it's just with how the ease that he plays, especially anything back of a length, anything short, just puts it away with such ease. It's just an area in which he gets better, I think.”

The Australian pacer further added, “He never looks to bludgeon the ball, just pure class, and elegance. His records, especially in white-ball cricket, is phenomenal.”

On being asked whether a bowler gets annoyed by seeing a player bat with such ease, Josh said: “Yeah, absolutely. I mean the batters through our time, obviously are the frustrating ones to bowl to.”

Hazlewood signed off by saying, “Even when someone who came quicker like Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins' bowling to those guys, it doesn't seem fast and that's probably the one thing that sticks out when you are bowling to these types of players.”
