Former India pacer S Sreesanth is counting down the days when the ban on him will come to the end in September. He has already been given a new cricketing life as he was named in the probables list for the Kerala Ranji Trophy team.

"My aim is to help Kerala win the Ranji Trophy and other domestic titles in the upcoming season. I want to excel for my state and put in good performances if and when an opportunity comes up. If selectors feel Sreesanth is good enough, I may even get a chance to play for India again," said Sreesanth in a chat with Xtra Time Youtube channel.

Keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ICC has introduced a new rule which bans bowlers and fielders from using saliva as a mean to shine the ball in order to help it swing. Sreesanth is convinced with the ICC's decision and believes it's time for players to embrace the new normal and train accordingly.

"Players have the option of using their sweat. I firmly believe playing cricket is all about adaptability to different conditions. You have to embrace change. Players may be used to applying saliva but it's important to change old habits," Sreesanth assessed.

The 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup-winning cricketer have admitted that he is trying to get the nuances of the game correct by talking to his Kerala teammates, given that 7 years have passed since he last played top-flight cricket.

"I have played the game at the highest level. But the game has changed a lot in the last 7 years and I want to stay updated with it. Even my enemy shouldn't go through what I have," he said.
