Pakistan youngster Haider Ali idolizes India batsman Rohit Sharma. Haider called Rohit his role model and praised him for the vital platform he provides his team.
"Rohit Sharma is my role model because of the way he gives the Indian team a start. It's amazing," the 19-year-old Haider told reporters.
The 19-year-old wants to be as effective for his team as Rohit is, no matter what bowling attack he faces.
"Whether it's a Test, one-day international or a Twenty20, he comes with thinking and takes the attack to the bowlers. I want to give the same start to the Pakistan team."
Rohit was consistent with the bat scoring five hundreds in World Cup 2019 for India. He was one of the major reasons India made it to the semi-final where they got knocked out by New Zealand. The India opener had failed in that game.
Haider is impressed with Sharma's ability to strengthen his innings as it goes on and score big hundreds.
"Once he reaches 50 he thinks for 100, and on 100 he thinks of 150," the youngster said.
Pakistan will spend 14 days quarantine in England before playing the first Test in Manchester from August 5. Haider is included in Pakistan's 29-member squad.
