Noteworthy, in the normal circumstances, Dhawan would have seen in action for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 which has been suspended indefinitely due to the Coronavirus outbreak, and even still, there is no clarity about the future of the tournament with increasing COVID-19 cases in India.

Last year, Dhawan had a brilliant 2019 IPL campaign with Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 521 runs in 16 matches. He has so far played 159 matches and scored 4,579 runs in the IPL.
