India opener KL Rahul has sealed his place for limited-overs with his multidimensional offering as a batsman and wicket-keeper. Most importantly, he has succeeded in the new role for the Indian team.

But in Tests cricket, Rahul isn't a regular feature and he has lost his place for now. His coach always reminds him he has to play 100 Tests for India, and the Karnataka batsman has played 36 matches currently.

"Obviously, playing for your country no matter what format when you ask anybody in the team they will say they want to play in all the formats. Each format brings a different challenge and I have grown up with a Test match cricket mindset.

"My coach always prepared me for Test match cricket and as I grew up I learnt how to hit the ball harder, hit fours and sixes play the scoop shots and all those stuff but the dream was always to play Test cricket and my coach would always say '100 Test matches, 100 Test matches, you need to play that'.

"So, that's how I have grown up and I genuinely want to do it. I love playing cricket be it whatever format. It's not something that pulls me down or makes me feel that I am not a good enough player.

"So, whenever the opportunity comes I will enjoy it, as I said to you that it's a blessing to play for your country and go especially to a place like Australia where I failed and I got dropped from the Test matches to go back there and play against them would be very exciting. It's not something which is in my hand," Rahul said on India Today's show E-Inspiration.
