Former Indian cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has admitted his political differences with Shahid Afridi, but putting aside their bitter relationship, he has wished a speedy recovery to the legendary Pakistan all-rounder a speedy recovery from the deadly disease.
Saturday, June 13, former Pakistan captain, who has been doing social work with his charity organization Shahid Afridi Foundation during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in his country, has revealed that he tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. He revealed the same on Twitter.

He tweeted; “I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately, I’m COVID positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah”
Speaking at Salaam Cricket 2020, India’s World Cup-winning opener said he would never want someone to be infected with COVID-19 while saying he wants Afridi to recover as soon as possible.
Gambhir said at the show, “Nobody should be infected with this virus. I have political differences with Shahid Afridi but I want him to recover as soon as possible. But more than Afridi I want every person infected in my country to get well as soon as possible.”
He also commented on the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s offer to provide monetary help to India, as he thanked him for the help while suggesting them to first eradicate the cross-border terrorism.
Gambhir further said, “I have to worry about the people in my country. Pakistan has offered to help India but they need to provide help in their own country first. They have offered to help and I am thankful for that but first, they need to eradicate the cross-border terrorism.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq also wished a speedy recovery to his former teammate.
Misbah was quoted as saying by Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq: “My prayers & well wishes are with Shahid Afridi. May Allah help him recover soon. He was doing a lot of charity work in Balochistan & Northern Areas for people of those regions. Throughout this situation, he's been helping the poor and has been doing an excellent job,”
