Legendary Pakistan speed merchant Waqar Younis, who is currently serving the Men in Green as the bowling coach, has called for the resumption of the India-Pakistan bilateral series while expressing confidence at happening the series between the two nations in the near future.
The India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is arguably one of the most intense sporting rivalries in the world, but they now meet each other in ICC events and continental tournaments due to political tensions and frosty diplomatic relations having last played a bilateral series in 2012-13.

The legendary fast bowler said the majority of cricket fans from both the countries will be in favor of a bilateral series between the two arch-rivals, saying there should be series between the two cricket-crazy nations and even on a regular basis to avoid depriving cricket lovers of both countries.
The craze for the high-voltage encounter between the arch-rivals is well known to everyone and former Pakistan captain believes that the series between the two Asian heavyweights will prove to be the world's most hit series in both India and Pakistan venues.
Younis said during a chat show 'Q20', on GloFans Twitter handle: “If you go and ask people of both the countries on whether Pakistan and India should play each other, everyone, around 95% of them will agree, that cricket between these two should be played.”

He further added, “Be it 'Imran-Kapil Series' or 'Independence Series' or whatever name we give to it, I think that it would be the biggest hit of the world. I think Pakistan, India should play, and should play on a regular basis to avoid depriving cricket lovers of India and Pakistan.”
The former pacer signed off, “I do see Pakistan and India playing bilateral series. I am not sure where though, but I hope it will be either in Pakistan or in India. You don't want to see them playing in some other country because that's where you want to see them. You want to see them playing in their own countries. But I definitely say that in the next few years, I would say, Pakistan India will be playing.”
Noteworthy, India and Pakistan both have played each other in 59 Tests, 132 One Day internationals (ODIs), and 8 T20Is in the international arena so far.
