India’s young batting sensation Prithvi Shaw hogged the limelight right from his school days and then with the Mumbai U-16 team, which enabled him to meet the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar when he was eight-year-old and since then he continues to take tips from the master blaster.

During the latest Instagram Live session with his employers Indian Oil, Shaw revealed that Tendulkar is his mentor since he first met him at 8, saying he has learned a lot of things from the legend both on and off the field. He also revealed the batting great always stresses more on the importance of the mental aspect than to technique, as he hailed Tendulkar’s influence on career and life.

Shaw said during an Instagram live chat: “I was eight years old when I met Sachin Sir and since that time, he is my mentor and I have learned a lot of things from him (ranging) from on the field what you have to do (to) off the field, discipline, and everything.”

He further added, “Even now, whenever I go for practice, if Sachin Sir is there to watch me, he will talk, not much technically but mentally more… so it’s been a great journey for me under the guidance of Sachin Sir and a lot of coaches.”

Noteworthy, Shaw has featured in four Tests and three ODIs for India so far in which he has scored 335 and 84 runs respectively before being hit by an injury during Australia tour and later the doping ban.
