Shah Rukh Khan-owned TKR help the needy with food hampers across Trinidad & Tobago amid COVID-19 crisis

The actor lauded the Trinbago Knight Riders' work in this crisis.

Caribbean Premier League (CPL) side Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), co-owned by celebrated Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has come forward to help the needy in Trinidad and Tobago during the lockdown caused by the global Coronavirus pandemic.

During the ongoing global health crisis, the TKR has decided to do their bit to help out the people by distributing food hampers across the country, as the SRK co-owned side on Friday (May 8) pledged to donate one thousand food packets to the needy in Trinidad and Tobago amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

The TKR teamed up with HADCO Ltd, who have put the hampers together and provided them to the CPL franchise besides adding some items at no cost, and will deliver all the hampers to TKR for further distribution to “do the Knight thing” in this challenging time.

The local icons of the TKR like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, and Sunil Narine as well as the support staff will be personally distributing the food hampers to the affected areas of the island to help out the needy during the COVID-19 crisis.

Taking to Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan lauded his team for their generous contribution amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Shah Rukh, who is also the co-owner of IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders, wrote on Twitter: “@tkriders collaborated with HADCO Ltd. to 'Do the Knight thing' & distribute as many as 1k food hampers to the needy who are struggling because of the lockdown in Trinidad & Tobago. Proud of u my boys!”

Meanwhile, the franchise also thanked the “boss” for his words on Twitter.

Speaking this move, the Director of TKR, Venky Mysore said, “We all know the challenge this health crisis has posed. The entire TKRfamiIy wants to contribute and play a small role in easing the pain felt by the people of Trinidad & Tobago. Our players and support staff have been fantastic, as has I-IADCO.”

He concluded, “When we discussed this idea, they all spontaneously offered to get involved with the initiative. Our players will personally deliver the hampers and hopefully, this will put a smile on the faces of the people and ease the pain a little bit. This is a start and we will surely evaluate the needs on an ongoing basis and do whatever we can to contribute”
